Privacy statement Privacy statement Overview Updated March 3, 2008 Ohio's State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers and Surveyors recognizes the importance of privacy to our website visitors. The Board's website privacy statement is modeled after the state of Ohio's Office of Information Technology internet portal privacy notice which can be found at http://ohio.gov/policies.stm. Public records Visitors should be aware that, subject to certain statutory exceptions, most documents and records maintained by the state of Ohio; including, but not limited to electronic data; are public records under Ohio law. This means that information submitted to us from you may be subject to disclosure if there is a public records request. For information on submitting a public records request to the Board, go to our Enforcement page. Usage statistics The Board's web server automatically collects information on every visitor to our site. This information does not disclose personal identifiers such as name, address, telephone number or email address. Each time a request is made to view a page within our website, a log file is created capturing generic user information. Examples of generic user information include the type of internet browser and computer operating system you are using; the date and time you accessed our site; the internet protocol address of the individual computer, or proxy server, making the request and the internet address of the site from which you linked to our site. All information collected by way of server log files is used in aggregate form only and may be analyzed for trends and statistics in order to help us improve our website. Forms, email The Board's website does not collect personally identifiable information; such as your name, address, telephone number or email address; unless you provide such information voluntarily. Any personal information voluntarily provided by visitors, including personal information submitted in online forms and email, will be used for the purposes stated on the web page and may also be shared with other agencies as required by law or pursuant to agency authority. Information collected through our website may also be subject to disclosure pursuant to a public records request as described in the public records paragraph on this page. Cookies are used to complete a transaction, to process data submitted to us online or to facilitate ongoing internet interactions. Security The Board will follow state of Ohio laws that require the establishment of reasonable precautions to prevent personal information from unauthorized modification, destruction, use or disclosure. We take very seriously the integrity of the information and systems that we maintain. We have instituted security measures for all information systems under our control. These security measures are designed to identify attempts to tamper with this web site. Information collected through these security measures may be used in connection with a criminal prosecution or other legal proceedings. Access and dispute of information rights Pursuant to Ohio Revised Code section 149.43, section 1347.08 and section 1347.09, users have rights to their information given to this site in respect to inspecting, correcting and disputing.
